good Clark

Very cool ep this week. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but somebody saw Clark use his powers one night when he stopped a runaway bus from running over a sleeping homeless man. Turns out the person who saw it happen was a totally corrupt cop, who in exchange for his silence, wants Clark to help him do some bad things. Clark does, so the guy will stop harassing his family and drop the murder charge he framed Clark's dad with. Long story really short, the cop gets killed while stealing from the Metropolis museum, in Luther Hall. But the worst part is that a small portion of the incident was caught on the security camera… which Lex watches in his computer. It's actually really cool. All he can see is somebody or something speed by the camera. But at the very end of the ep, we see Lex slow down the footage and pause it on a blurry shot of a person. Does he know it's Clark? I have no idea! Gosh, I hope not! But it was a really cool ending! What a way to keep us hanging!!

This ep starred the dad from the Wonder Years as the Smallville football teams Coach Walt. His big secret was that he had this private sauna in his office (dubbed the "Sweatbox"). And under the coals that were heating it… is a pile of kryptonite. So natch, he had some kind of super power. What is it you ask? Well, he was a totally high strung, meanie, guy who yelled a lot, so now, when he would get all pissed off and his face turned red, he would start fires. It was totally like watching "Firestarter". He could even wish fires on people and direct them with his mind. Creepy. Well, after the coach sees Clark throw a football with superspeed, he makes him join the team. Go Clark!

Lana the ex-cheerleader
OK timeout: At this point, Lana has quit cheerleading and decides to get a job as a waitress at a local coffee shop, and whatdya know… she SUCKS at it. And eventually gets fired. Clark was sad cuz he thought now that he was a football player, Lana would be there cheering for him, but it was a no go.

Chloe
Ok, time in. So then there's this whole thing with some of the guys on the football team cheating and the coach was the one who gave them the test answers, blah, blah, blah… Basically, Chloe, the newspaper chick and Clark's friend, got some pix of the Coach threatening the cheating players on the field with sprinklers spouting fire. Yikes! So as she's laying the art into the lead story article, the coach sets her office on fire with her in it. Clark comes to her rescue, but then the Coach locks Clark in the sauna room, which is FILLED with kryptonite rocks. SO he's just laying there… trying to stay alive. But when his dad didn't see him playing on the field he came looking for him and opened the sauna door. Cut to the Coach setting fire to Clark, who walks right through it, enraging the coach so much that he sets himself on fire. The end.
There was also a whole "C" plot with Lex Luther and his dad and their business, but really it had little relevancy on anything. And I gotta wonder… how is Lex gonna really fit into this whole high school thing when he's not in school? He's a hottie and all, but I'm just not sure what his character has to do with himself… besides look hot. But I look forward to finding out!

Alright, this was a really gross episode. It was all about BUGBOY - that's not an official name or anything, but it's pretty fitting. This loner geek kid, Greg, collected tons and tons of bugs in his room (eeewwwwwww) and one day, a case cracked open while he was driving and apparently the bugs sort of bit him to death. Well, it turns out, these bugs have been around since before the meteor crash and all have some kind of funky stuff in them and since soooo many bugs bit him, he kind of turned into one. A big bug. Yes, it was really nasty. He looked like a human, but he ate bugs and had bug powers, like leaping and casting webs. His whole thing was that now he's a bug and goes through stages (which included eating his mom, and shedding his skin in the shower) and the last stage is mating. And of course, the girl he wants to mate with is Lana Lang. Go figure. So while he has her spun in a cocoon, there's a big showdown with him and Clark. But then, Bugboy got squashed by a tractor-type thing and turned into like a MILLION ROACHES! Uugghh. It was nasty.

Lex helps Clark get LanaLex and Clark are becoming better friends and Lex even tried to help Clark win over Lana from her jock boyfriend Whitney. Whitney lost her kryptonite necklace when he tied Clark up as a scarecrow last week, so when Lex found it, he gave it to Clark, that way he could return it to Lana and receive the "thanks". But I totally thought from the start that Clark is the kind of guy that would return the necklace anonymously and forgo the credit. So I wasn't surprised when that's exactly what happened at the end. While Clark was in posession of the necklace, he learned just how much the kyrptonite cripples him. And the only thing that can keep it from affecting Clark is lead. Like when the necklace was in a lead box it was harmless.

I actually really liked this episode, even better than the first I think. It's such a combo of Roswell and Buffy that I guess I can't help but like it, too.

Clarkcan levitate
Oh yeah, Clark is starting to really discover his powers, like levitating. He woke up and was floating above his bed… and then he totally crash landed.

PS - was it me or did anybody else think the show open sorta stunk? I mean, the song wasn't good and didn't seem to fit the show. But I guess not every open can be like Buffy or Charmed.

hottie Clark Kent

So I had some major hesitations about this whole Superman thing. But I gotta tell ya… I totally dug this show. The fact that the young hero, played by Tom Welling, is SOOO hot, doesn't hurt either. I mean, he's no Angel, but he's still hot, more like Max quality. Kristin Kruek, who plays Lana Lang is pretty and sweet, and Lex Luthor has some potential for hottie-status… but the bald thing is kinda holding him back. We shall see. Anyhoo, the fact that Clark's parents had his spaceship tucked away in their basement was totally a bite from Roswell, but I think a lot of this show is going to be. But hey, like the Jenny Jones audience often says, "don't hate the player, hate the game."

Well, story goes, there was this meteor shower to hit Smallville, Kansas in 1989, dropping Clark onto earth, killing Lana's parents, causing Lex to lose his hair, and leaving some poor kid who was tied to a pole like a scarecrow (Jeremy), electrically charged. Kind of like an electric fence - touch him and you get Lana, Clark and Lexshocked. There was this whole B-plot thing about this kid getting revenge on the jocks that tied him up there years ago that allowed Clark to really test out his strength and powers for the first time. You know, lifting cars, being slammed into a brick wall, stuff like that. Oh yeah, other things that will probably come up later this season. Lana wears a necklace made of kryptonite, which of course, paralyzes Clark when it's near him. Also, her BF, Whitney, hates Clark. And Clark saved Lex's life (you know, in that car crash that they keep showing in the promo) and Lex bought him a truck in return, but Clark gave it back. Apparently, the Luthors have some bling bling, but daddy Luthor earned it by being mean. So yeah, that's it. Good show, even if you hate stuff like Superman.
