SEASON FINALE!

So I gotta say, this was the MOST dragged out season finale of Road Rules ever. It was 2 half-hour episodes. The first one was the final mission, and the last episode was just the handsome reward claim and the goodbyes. Very UN-Road Rules like.

So anyway, the final mission was at an Air Force base in the U.S. (Fort Dix I think). The gang had to train to become Medics. The funniest part had to be watching the girls get ready, putting on their fatigues, and Ellen putting on eyeshadow to match the oufit. That's SO her. So they had to eventually help fake refugees in a fake place called "Ohzland". It was a training base they set up to be a fake foreign country. Weird. They had to help people and recover supplies from a warehouse and save more people. Really, this mission was just ok, nothing great. Then they had a fancy dinner with wine in a big tent. Didn't get that either.

So onto the handsome reward part. They made SUCH a big production of going to see military people who would have the key to your prize, blah, blah, blah, and finally it was inside some airplane hangar. Each Road Ruler won a brand new Suzuki truck. Frankly, I would've been pissed of if that's all I won. They looked pretty cheap to me. But they all seemed relatively happy, I guess.

Then it was time for the goodbyes. This was the first year I thought I wouldn't cry, cuz I wasn't THAT attached to the cast. And I wasn't crying… UNTIL they played that Five For Fighting song "Superman" and started the big montage section, some of which was actually shot on HI-8 film, so it looked cool. I did get teary eyed here, especially during the final confessional things when they cast talks about what they learned and when Gisela came on to talk about how she failed and it was ok. But no actual tears flowed. So that's it I guess. Another season of Road Rules down. What will I do with my Monday 10:00pm slot that is now open? Any suggestions???

Yeah baby, this is exactly the kind of Road Rules ep I always wanna see. Stupid games and fights. This week Road Rules faced off with the Real World in Marakesh is the "Duel in the Desert". They had to play 3 games… winning team gets $1,000 a person. First game was sheep herding. No biggie here… teams had to heard sheep in to a big pen. Real World won. The best of this game was the explanation why Coral was not participating in the game. The voice-over says she came down with "some kind of flu", but then they cut to a shot of her fixing her makeup and checking for snot in the rearview mirror of the Winnie. Uggghh, she is such a complainer. Next game was "Mummy Wrap" where each team picked 2 members from the other team to spend the night wrapped up together in a coffin. RW chose RR'ers Adam and Katie. RR chose RW'ers Rachel and Nicole… who I thought was NEVER do it, but they did. Shucks. But Rachel whined the whole time. Last game was "Oil Wrestling". Oh yeah. The teams has to go one-on-one and wrestle in a pool of oil. Gross. Well, Nicole protested so hard that she refused to do it because it was too violent for her. But Katie had it right, when she suggested that Nicole didn't want to wrestle cuz she's mess up her make-up and hair. Amen. Road Rules won, natch.

Oh yeah baby. This week was damn funny. The Road Rulers had to return to stinky, smelly Morocco to do some nasty mission in a tannery. It was so gross. They had to walk around barefoot carrying lambskins on their arms. Blluugghh (that's the sound of me gagging) They had to de-fur them, dye them, and get into large vats of pigeon poop to soften them (ala that Lucy episode when she's smashing the grapes, but this is NASTY!) It was awesome watching spoiled little Katie and Ellen whine and complain about the mission. And Katie quit like 8 times. Also amusing was watching Katie get her first look at the squatting-over-a-hole toilets they have in that country. She had to go #2, but said she'd hold it as long as she had to before she'd use that thing. I don't blame her.

This season's cast has really had the best and worst of both worlds. I mean, they get this sweet trip around the world and get to see so many different countries for free. And there is even one pretty cute boy on the Winnie too. Bonus point for Adam. But that also means "when in Rome, do as the Romans do"… but this ain't Rome. We're talking about squatting in holes for toilets, eating strange food, and navigating their way through foreign lands not speaking the language. So this week, they had to make like thieves and infiltrate some castle in Spain, to steal their next crest. They were the WORST cat burglars ever. Really. I mean, they were cracking jokes and walking like they had lead feet. If this was for real, they would've been in jail.
