Oh yeah baby. This was a Halloween episode done right! Here's the breakdown on how the Stage family spent Halloween:

Mom Stage - She thinks buying candy is too expensive, so she prefers to make her own. Last year she gave out saltine crackers. This year she's making taffy.
It looked more like the blob. The kids threw it in the bushes. Hee hee. And she's so cheap she's been using the same pumpkin for years, just freezing it till Halloween and then defrosting it with a hairdryer.

Grandma StageGrandma Stage - she's dating. The man she just went out with said he'd call, but while Molly was on a school field trip to the morgue she saw his body in the casket, dead. What luck. But she broke the news to Grandma, she didn't' seem to care. Actually she was just happy that he didn't dump her… he just died.
The Twins (Cindy & Mindy) - one wants to dress as a princess and the other wants to be a bloody corpse. Problem is they want to dress the same, too. Frankly, I was expecting more of a fight between these two. Like some candy stealing or costume sabotage. But this was too easily resolves when they just went as sheet-wearing ghosts. Oh well.
religious Greg

Greg Stage- this brother loooooooves the Bible. He spent Halloween with his Bible study group. They had nachos and talked about the Lord. Not my idea of fun, but hey, to each their own.
hottie Rick
Rick Stage- this brother is losing his hair (read: major catastrophe in his life). His hairline used to be 3 fingers from his eyebrows, and now it's 4. He goes to Greg's study group to pray for hair. While praying, he meets a girl. Now that's called multitasking.
And Molly spent her time in her Philosophy of Death class, which was soooo creepy. All in all, a great ep.

Molly and Nick
So Molly's old nickname is "Tubby", given to her by the family when she used to be… well… tubby. So now that she's thinner and looking better, she had to have her mom take in her old clothes cuz they are too big. However, her mom tried to persuade her not to have them taken in in case she gets fat again… citing Oprah as an example. Ha. Also, Molly's boyfriend, Nick, encourages her to join cheerleading so she can cheer him on at wrestling games. But the cheer schedule conflicts with her duties as president and active member of the chess club. So she drops the geek patrol, until she catches Nick making out with another cheerleader. Then it's back to the chess club. PS - she got a warning from the cheerleading coach for not crying after the wrestling team lost. What's that all about?

And oh yeah, Dad and older brother had a moustache-growing contest between themselves after a 7-year old beauty pageant contestant comes into his office to get eyeglasses (so she can flirt with the judges better) and suggests he'd look handsome with one. Enough said.

Maybe It's Me
So Molly Stage has a new boyfriend. Well, until her crazy family scares him away. Their first date was going to see a local community theater presentation of HAIR, starring her kooky parents and Jesus-loving brother. But the performance wouldn't be complete without her parents performing the famous nude scene. Gross. Fortunately, it never actually happened. But Molly was left caring for her creepy-looking twin sisters, Cindy and Mindy, while her parents rehearsed.

creepy twinsI was bummed that a lot of the Pop-Up video captions that I loved from the first ep were missing this week. But the new opening credit sequence was super cute. After watching the first 2 eps, I can officially give this show my seal of approval. Very funny stuff. I actually find myself happy that parents aren't as crazy as the Stages.
