7th heaven

first air: 1/21/02

I know 7th Heaven can get a little cheesy/schmaltzy sometimes and I really thought this ep was gonna be one of those, but it wasn't. This ep featured a little Muslim girl, Yasmine, who was a friend of Ruthie's. Yasmine was being harassed by 2 older boys because of her ethnicity. But when Ruthie and the Camden clan tried to put an end to the hate, they found out that their whole neighborhood and Ruthie's school were all afraid of Yasmine and her family. It was really creepy how people reacted to hearing their were Muslim's living in their community and trying to enter their private school. It was extra sad, because I'm sure that is how people react in real life these days. Bottom line, Ruthie, her principal, and another teacher, all quit the private school because they wouldn't let Yasmine attend.

7th Heaven returns with both Mary and Lucy with engagement rings. No, neither of them are engaged, or even have boyfriends for that matter, but they both kept their rings when things got broken off last year. Smart girls! Turns out Wilson up and moved from his place and didn't even tell Mary. Ha! But just when I started to feel a little bad for her, guess who shows up at the door… the fireman! You know, the one she kissed that made Wilson break up with her. And let me tell you, he is a hottie! He actually blows Wilson out of the water! And Robbie's brother shows up, looking to have another session with "the makeout queen" (aka Lucy) to help his writer's block. Of course, she obliges. Kinda slutty, dontcha think?

Simon still hasn't learned his lesson when it comes to driving. Robbie offered to be the "adult" driver so Simon could practice, but natch, he gets into an accident. He hits Matt's car. Simon has got to be the crappiest driver ever. At this rate, he's never gonna get a license, and frankly, I think his learner's permit should be revoked.

Ruthie is as smart and sassy as ever. She knows everything and everybody and always has great advice for her family. And she's a cutie-pie too.

PS - Mom quit her job teaching at Ruthie's private school, just as they were gonna ask her to stay on with a staff position. Um, doesn't the family kind of need the money? Oh well.

Ok, so who's the hot stud firefighter trainee carrying the big hose? Mary was getting hit on by the super-stud in her firefighter class but she was all like "I have a boyfriend", blah, blah, blah… cut to end of the ep where Mary is making out on her couch with him and of course, Wilson walks in. Yikes. PS - Mary still hasn't made up her mind about whether or not to marry Wilson… wonder if this will have an affect on that.
Lucy Robbie

Ok, Robbie and Lucy. Yeah, they are totally attracted to each other. That was obvious when Lucy showed up on Robbie's date to sabotage it. They ended their evening sharing a looooooong kiss… right in front of her kitchen window. Hello, STUPID! Of course, Dad saw the whole thing. Since he forbid them to date each other and Mary practically said the same thing, I think they're in for some trouble. But they are a really cute couple. I just hope Robbie doesn't get kicked out of the Camden house now.

Matt and Cheryl have decided to break up… for now. Matt is too busy with work and all and Cheryl has school… so they are calling it quits. I bet they're back together in 3 eps.

Simon was getting hit on by this totally trampy high school girl, Lynn, who just happened to be the girlfriend of his good friend, Morris. She was totally trying to be all feely and even kissed him a couple of times. But leave it to good boy Simon to tell his friend the whole story. Ha ha slut.

And then there's Mom Camden. What are we gonna do with her? She has been soooo moody lately and now she's gotten really mean. Like I'm starting to be a little afraid of her. But after a small incident with one of her new students at Ruthie's school, she's learned a few lessons about fighting with her husband and how much it sucks. Thank goodness. I hope she lays off the yelling for a while.

So color me wrong… Mary is actually in training to be a firefighter. But from the looks of it, she might not be there too long. Her boss told her she has to pass a skills test in 2 weeks or buh-bye.

Robbie likes Lucy
Robbie and Lucy have been spending waaaaay too much time together, but they say it's brother/sister time, however the 'rents aren't buying it. And for good reason too. Robbie tried to set Lucy up with one of his buds, but when the 2 hit if off, Robbie told him to leave. Read: Robbie is totally crushing on Lucy. But she just wants to be friends. I smell trouble.
Mom Camden has been sooo damn moody and mean lately. I know she's menopausal and all, but geez, lighten up, take some hormones already. Well, we finally know what it's all about. She has decided to quit college (which hasn't actually been mentioned in soooooo long, I thought she already did) and teach and Ruthie's school instead. Have fun kid. Just don't tell anyone she's your mom. Or it's all downhill.
Matt the gyno
But the real comedy came when Matt decided what he wanted to do with his life… become a gynocologist. Ha ha ha!!! Matt the gyno.

And oh yeah… WILSON PROPOSED TO MARY! She didn't answer yet, and I'm not sure she'll actually say yes either. He's looking for her to take care of him and Billy, to be a wife and mother. Hello, are you sure you are proposing to the right girl?

Simon and preggirl
Leave it to Simon Camden to meet a pregnant teen girl on the bus. And to go on a date with her. And not only is she preggers at 16, but she's got 2 kids already. Hi, has she been on the Jenny Jones show yet? Actually, what's with the WB and pregnancy this season? Simon meets a pregnant girl. Darla on Angel is pregnant. And Reba's teen daughter is preggers too. Hmmmm. Well, of course, mom and dad Camden don't him dating her, but he's such a stand-up guy, he doesn't want to let her down, so they go out for dinner anyway. Now for Mary. Wilson's son, Billy, wants to know if he can call Mary "mommy". That's scary. She vetoed that plan ASAP. And then there's the room over the garage at the Camden house. It's prime real-estate in that overly-crowded kid-hotel, so in order to assure occupancy when it's done being remodeled, Robby offers to pay rent, so mom and dad give him the a-okay. Of course, this causes inner turmoil and fighting cuz everybody wants that room. But nobody's gonna get it too soon, cuz the contractor who Lucy finds to voluntarily work on it, fakes an injury, hoping to collect cash from the family. Naturally, Mom Camden threatens him in his hospital bed (repeatedly) and gets detained by hospital security (repeatedly). So no go on the room as of now. And oh yeah, Mary is going to train as a firefighter. Somebody pulled some strings. I give it 2 ep's at most before she's onto something new.
Mary the blonde

Simon the heroThis was actually a really well done episode about school violence. Simon was faced with the decision to rat on a friend of his who was secretly threatening to school up the bullies at their school. Simon first turned to family friend cop Sgt. Michaels. Then, of course, his dad. (Who in a weird B-subplot had another one his past "female friends" show up looking for comfort and advice… hmmm) Anyway, well handled.

Then there's this whole nickname thing going on.

Robbie gives Ruthie a nickname "Snooky" which is short for "sneaking cookies", which is what she does like every 5 minutes. Then Ruthie dubs Lucy "Lady Liberty" cuz something went down with her and her ex-fiance in NYC that she refused to divulge. (Ok, later we find out that Jeremy's family didn't dig her cuz she's a PK… whatev) And Matt is bestowed with the name "Hot Lips" by the nurses where he works cuz he tends to make-out in front of work with his girlfriend Cheryl. (She's so lucky.)

Oh, and on the Mary front…her next job pick…. Firefighter (laughing is permitted) That didn't go so well when she set fire to her room the night before her interview. Oh Mary.

first air: 9/24/01

happy Camden clanOh I've forgotten how much I miss those Camdens. And this season it's all about ch-ch-changes, you know, the whole Camden clan is growing older. What's changed… let's see… first off, Mary (Jessica Biel) is back on the show full-time (woo-hoo!) now that her little stint as an "I'm-a-bad-girl-so-gimme-bad-girl-roles" is over. And she's BLOND. Not sure how I feel about that yet. Simon has an earring…which I am not loving at all. The twins are now played by little kids, not babies (do I smell future Olsen twins here??) Ruthie is pre-pubescent and talking about getting her first bra. (Hey Ruthie, I think you've still got some time before you need one of those) Matt is still hot (as usual), and oh yeah, Mom Camden is going through menopause, so make way for the mood swings.

The only real plot line that I could make out while just enjoy getting reacquainted was that Mary is looking for a job. Since she's gonna shack up with Wilson (well, ok, she's just hoping she will if she marries him) and his son, she's feeling the pressure to find a job in case one day she is left alone to care for his kid. What job does she decide on??? A cop. (It's ok to laugh, I did too) But she didn't' get accepted cuz she's too young. But she's got her head set on something in civil service. Keep on truckin' girlfriend.

season finale!
5/21/01

OK, how do I go about describing this? The season finale of 7th Heaven was really good, but it was more like 7 different stories happening at once. So I'll try my best to break it down by family member…

Mom and Dad Camden

Mom & Dad Camden - they spent the episode separately counseling the man and woman who were lusting after them. Hello, who would ever be that nice? Wouldn't you think if some guy kissed your wife you'd deck him? Not reverend Camden… he invited him over for dinner… Well, the Camden's worked it all out and even managed to set up the 2 lusting adults on a date at church… how sweet.

Lucy Camden

Lucy Camden - she's going to remain engaged to her boyfriend of like 3 months, Jeremy. Even though her old boyfriend, Mike, made one last plea for her to love him, she stayed with Jeremy. So now she will be moving with him to New York, where she will attend seminary school there. If you're old nickname used to be "the make-out queen" can you still qualify to become a minister?

Simon Camdon

Simon Camden - he called everything off with Dina, his long-time on-again-off-again girlfriend. She only wants to be friends, so he said b-bye.

Matt Camden

Matt Camden - he's been dating Robbie's ex-girlfriend Cheryl. But she just wants to sleep with him and he just wants to talk. So, things didn't exactly work out. But I think he still wants to give it a try.
Mary Camden Mary Camden - oh, Mary. She comes home from NY from the summer expecting to date Robbie. But he's afraid if they date and then break-up that he'll get kicked out of the Camden house, which is where he lives now (cuz he was homeless… long story) And whaddya know… Wilson (the teenage father played by Andrew Keegan) has been dating Mary in NY for a couple of months now and he shows up at her door wanting her back. Yikes. Well, Mary eventually broke it off with Robbie… they decided three strikes and they're done. But when Mary went to give Wilson her answer about him….

BAM! A TO BE CONTINUED sign. (sigh) I hate that. I hope she goes with Wilson, he's a babe.

first air: 5/14/01

Wow, there was actually some hardcore action tonight on 7th Heaven! Well, as hardcore as you can get on a show about a minister and his do-gooder family. Mary finally came back home, which was cool, but since next week is the season finale, we're not gonna get too much action out of her (I don't think). I cannot believe that Lucy proposed to Jeremy so she could move away with him! But I wonder if they're really gonna get married now that it came out that Mary and Jeremy might've had "adult relations" whent hey met one night at the train station…. How scandalous! That's why we love you Mary!

   Lucy and Jeremy are engaged

We were left with a ton-load of cliffhangers since the episode is "to be continued" next week. Like John and his girlfriend are supposed to get married. My guess is they don't go through with it cuz his grandma is sick in the hospital. Next up, after making nice-nice and Cheryl took him back, Matt was offered to "come inside" Cheryl's house, cuz she wants to take their relationship "to the next level"…. Hmmmm, what do you think he'll do? I'm betting that Matt goes for it. How about Dad Camden and the slutty mom? She's been requesting that he "counsel" her, but now he's at her house and she's like "I want you… are you gonna do anything about it?". Ok, that's a no-brainer… duh, he's gonna say no and run home to wife Annie…. Who just happens to be kissing the guy "friend" who is helping her remodel the garage…. Hee hee. I'm telling you, I have never been so excited over an episode of 7th Heaven EVER! Oh, and then there's Dina and Simon. He wants her back, but she's torn between him and her sorta-ex-boyfriend, even though she spent the past 2 hours playing smacky-face with Simon at the movies. My guess… she goes for Simon.

Wilson and Mary and RobbieAnd lastly, just when you thought things couldn't get any better… Wilson shows up at the house, proclaiming his love for Mary. Yeah baby! BRING IT ON!!!

first air: 5/7/01

When is Jessica Biel coming back!! I miss Mary and all the trouble she used to cause in the Camden house. But anyway… this week was all about being slim-shady and stuff. Reverend Camden had this bug secret he was trying to tell his wife. new daughter lily and her dadWanna know what is it? Turns out Annie's dad had a kid when he was 17 and she's now come looking for him (in the form of a really old chick, Michelle Phillips - she's the mom of Mackenzie Phillips from the old-school show One Day At A Time). But this daughter was soooo elderly that she could've been Annie's dad wife (see picture)

Well, after much debate the Camden's welcomed her into their house and, as usual, Ruthie asked an ill-timed totally politically incorrect question.

Ruthie the CrusaderAnd speaking of the Ruth-ster, she set out on a crusade to have everybody in the waking world to sign some petition to fight the firing of Miss Miller, a beloved teacher at her school. Let me tell you, for a little kid, she has some nerve. She totally went in and yelled at her principal about it too. Turns out, Ruthie's big petition made the news. But sadly, Miss Miller wasn't being fired, she was just trying to hide the fact that she had breast cancer. Then the show got all sappy and sentimental.

Oh and Robbie got lectured by the Reverend for not being a registered voter. Dude… Robbie… you're not even their son. Fight the power.

And one last thing…there was not enough Matt this week. If I can't have Mary making trouble, then I want to see more Matt. There, I'm done.
